HBPW produced stunning 3D visuals to showcase the future transformation of Eaglescliffe railway station in Stockton-on Tees, following a multi-million-pound redevelopment.
Eaglescliffe railway station, located approximately eight miles east of Darlington on the Tees Valley Line, connects Bishop Auckland and Saltburn via Darlington. Despite its strategic importance, the station has historically been difficult to access from its western side.
The redevelopment scheme includes a double span bridge, aiming to enhance access to the western side of the station, including the Durham Lane Industrial Estate.
Tom Shiels, BIM Technician: "A double span bridge will be key to opening up land to the west of the station, including the Durham Lane Industrial Estate, which has never been possible before."
Existing footbridge and access ramps will be retained to ensure maximum accessibility during construction and provide a second emergency exit. As shown in HBPW's 3D visuals, the project will introduce accessible toilets, baby changing facilities, and three new buildings equipped with lifts and staircases. A new brick waiting shelter will also be constructed on the platform. Additionally, a new car park will be built to the west of the station.
In words of HBPW partner, Paul Monaghan: "The scheme features a full multi-disciplinary design involving Civil and Structural Design, M&E, COMMS, E&P, Signal Sighting, with HBPW acting as lead designer and supported by our excellent key supply chain partners including AGHE (M&E), MRC (Comms Design), and Kilburn (Signal Sighting)."
Project Timeline: The first phase of work has commenced and is expected to be completed by late 2025.
Funding: The multi-million-pound scheme is jointly funded by the Tees Valley Combined Authority, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, and Network Rail.
