The 160-year-old Agar Grove Bridge faced deterioration and required crucial replacement works to maximize the safety of pedestrians and passengers crossing the bridge, as well as train-goers passing below.
The primary focus of this project was to replace the bridge deck, which previously faced risks of weight restriction. Considering Agar Grove Bridge’s location just north of St. Pancras, HBPW had a significant undertaking in planning the temporary works for the £19m replacement scheme.
HBPW’s innovative planning and design approach, in collaboration with clients BAM UK & Ireland and Network Rail, enabled the replacement of Agar Grove’s bridge decks in just 9 days. Ambitious undertakings, such as installing crane foundations, pilings, pedestrian footpaths, and an underbridge, were efficiently executed thanks to HBPW’s comprehensive preliminary efforts.
